Syracuse's New Police Chief Is On Patrol

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse's New Police Chief is officially on the job.

Kenton Buckner was sworn in Monday Morning by Mayor Ben Walsh to succeed outgoing Chief Frank Fowler. Fowler's last day was Friday.

Buckner had been police chief in Little Rock since June 2014, before that he spent 21 years at Lousiville Metro Police in Kentucky. Buckner has said that he has wanted to lead a police force in a mid-sized city like Syracuse because it gives him the opportunity to build connections with residents.
