Ryan McMahon Names His Successor

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon appointed fellow Republican Miles Bottrill to fill the county legislature seat left vacant when McMahon became county executive.

Bottrill  of Syracuse, previously served eight years on the Syracuse Common Council, ending in 2001. 

McMahon took over for former County Executive Joanie Mahoney, when Mahoney left to work as Chief Operating Officer of SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. 

Bottrill will have to run for election next November if he hopes to keep the position beyond 2019.  

McMahon will also have to run for re-election as well as Mahoney's term was scheduled to end next year. l
