Syracuse, N.Y. - After months of construction, the westbound lanes of Interstate 690 fully reopened this morning.
The work on the I-690 bridge over Teall Avenue and Beech Street started in May 2017. Commuters have had to deal with closing and changing lanes in that area for over a year.
Workers finished stripping the westbound lanes overnight. By this morning all three lanes of I-690 west were open.
But don't pop that champagne yet! The project isn't complete.
The left lane of I-690 east remains closed, said state Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Curtis Jetter and he says construction is also continuing on the Teall Avenue ramps.
