New York, N.Y. - Former New York state Senate leader Dean Skelos was sentenced to 4 years and three months in prison today.
Skelos who was found guilty of corruption, had his sentence reduced by the Judge due to the 70 year old's health. He was to get 5 years in prison, prosecutors wanted 6 1/2.
Skelos and his son Adam were convicted in July on charges of extortion, wire fraud and bribery.
Lawyers said the strain of two trials had caused a breakdown in the relationship between Skelos and his son. His son awaits his sentencing today as well.
