Wayne County Sheriff's Identify Victims In Yesterday's Shooting

Sodus, N.Y. - Wayne County Sheriff's Deputies are on the hunt for the suspect in a double homicide.

The two victims have been identified as 28 year old Joshua Niles and 24 year old Amber Washburn, both of 29 Carlton Street in the Village of Sodus.

Officers were called to the scene on Carlton Street in Sodus yesterday and arrived to find the man and woman dead. The shooting prompted a massive search for a suspect and say a shelter-in-place order was issued. The Sodus Central School District also went into a lock-out for a time.

Sodus schools are closed for the day, not because there was any sort of threat but to just take every precaution possible.  Deputies are in close communication with the Superintendent and have reached out to the Williamson Schools to answer questions presented by concerned parents.

The Sheriff’s Office does not believe this incident was a random act.  We believe these people were targeted and the general public is not at risk.

Deputies say they were looking for someone wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and green hat.  Anyone who sees anything suspicious or has information on the case is asked to call 911.
