Oswego County Say A Second Horse Has Died From EEE

Oswego, N.Y. -  A second horse has died in Oswego County. 

A horse which died Oct. 5 in the Town of Williamstown has tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) that according to the Oswego County Health Department.  

Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang said the horse had not been vaccinated for EEE. 

A horse died in the town of West Monroe in August.

Huang says the EEE and West Nile viruses will remain active until the first heavy frost occurs and encourages people in all area to continue to protect yourself from mosquito bites.
