Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh released a statement Saturday following two more shootings in the city.
“My thoughts are again with the victims and their families. We pray for their recovery and for relief from the pain and sadness they are enduring. Like everyone else, I want there to be quick actions we can take to stop the violence. I want it to be just a law enforcement challenge, but the reality is it is not. There are social and economic issues involved that have developed over many years, and it will take time to break the cycle. We still need help from the community, and I want be clear about why. We appeal to the public, because it is the biggest force multiplier we have. Friday’s arrest, which was the result of good police work and help from the community, confirms that.”
