Syracuse, N.Y. - A former running coach with connections to three Central New York schools is now facing federal child porn charges.
Martin Nicholson was arrested earlier this week for sharing child porn but had been granted bail. A federal judge thought differently and ordered that Nicholson be kept behind bars until a court hearing on Monday.
Court documents indicate that Nicholson, at least in one instance, convinced a minor to stealthily take pictures of her sister in various states of undress.
He faces Federal charges of sexual exploitation of a child and receipt of child pornography. He is also facing a handful of state charges including having and sharing child porn, and unlawful sex act.
During his career, Nicholson has coached in the Westhill Central School District and Jordan-Elbridge Central School District, and at Bishop Ludden Junior-Senior High School.
He's facing decades in prison if convicted.
