Syracuse Police Arrest Stabbing Suspect At Scene Of Crime

Syracuse police make an arrest Tuesday night at the scene of where a man was slashed in the face.  

Police accuse 25-year-old Leveantria Mathis for the attack, which was shortly before 9 PM on Lodi Street. Officers responding found the victim with a large cut on his face.  Witnesses at the scene pointed out Mathis, who was nearby, and he was arrested after a brief chase.  Police believe Mathis and his victim knew each another, but there is still no motive or reason for the attack.

Mathis is charged with second degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest.  He is in custody at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
