Syracuse, N.Y. - The large fire that took place on Saline street last week and resulted in four buildings to be demolished was ruled as accidental.
The Syracuse Fire Department says after conducting interviews and investigating the area they have determined the flames were caused by "carelessly discarded smoking materials near combustibles."
Officials said the fire originated at the rear of 719 N. Salina Street . There was a large stack of cardboard that was being stored against the building at the time.
Winds, structural issues and the heat and humidity made the fire a tough one to fight. Luckily no one was injured.
4 buildings damaged in the fire have been torn down.
