Geddes, N.Y. - It was a State Fair for the record books.
A record-setting 1,279,010 people came out to the Great New York State Fair this year. The previous mark was set last year at just over 1.1 million. Twice this year, the fair broke the record for single-day attendance. Next year's fair runs from August 21st until September 2nd.
"The improvements to the Fairgrounds are clearly making for a better visitor experience, helping attract more fairgoers near and far, and all while boosting the entire Central New York economy," said Governor Andrew Cuomo
The Fair added the thirteenth-day last year. Since then Fair Officials say that attendance is up 10-percent and 40-percent since the upgrades started at the Fairgrounds following the 2015 Fair.
