Syracuse, N.Y. - Senator Chuck Schumer is again calling for the Federal Railroad Administration to take action.
Yesterday, he said the agency needs to inspect every bridge in Central New York. Last month, a section of railroad overpass fell in the area of West Onondaga and South Clinton Streets in Syracuse. No one was injured, but Schumer believes something like this could happen again if action isn't taken. That collapse was blamed on high temperatures.
Earlier this summer, a portion of a Syracuse railroad bridge collapsed but the federal gov’t still has not sent an inspector to independently review the city’s elevated rail line.— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) August 27, 2018
The FRA must hire more rail bridge inspectors and send one to Syracuse immediately. pic.twitter.com/8DRVdHoq9e
