New York - Investigators in New York state have issued a subpoena to Michael Cohen as part of their probe into the Trump Foundation.
Cuomo administration officials say that the subpoena was issued after Cohen's attorney said his client has information of interest to both state and federal prosecutors.
New York State Attorney General Barbara Underwood filed a lawsuit in June against the President and his family for allegedly using money from the charity for personal uses. Cohen could have significant information useful to state investigators looking into whether Trump or his charity broke state law or lied about their tax liability.
If evidence of alleged crimes are found it could force the President to release his tax returns.
