One-Car Crash In Lafayette Leaves Driver With Unknown Injuries

A man is hospitalized with unknown injuries after a one-car crash that tied up traffic this morning for hours on northbound Route 81 near Lafayette.

Troopers say that Edmund Panek of Syracuse was driving an Alfa Romeo he had just purchased form a car show in Cortland when he swerved near the Route 11 exit at Lafayette, hitting several guiderail posts and overturning.  First responders extracted Panek and airlifted him to Upstate Hospital.  There is no report yet on his condition.  All lanes of 81 northbound have since reopened.  The investigation into that crash is continuing.
