LaFayette, N.Y. - A Syracuse man was airlifted to Upstate Hospital after he crashed a car he had just purchased from a Cortland Car Show.
State Police say that 56-year-old Edmund Panek crashed a 1963 Alfa Romeo yesterday on I-81 in the Town of Lafayette. Just before 3, Troopers say that Panek swerved onto the shoulder before rolling the car and becoming pinned under the guardrail.
A family member who was traveling behind Panek told officers on the scene that he had just purchased the vehicle at a car show in Cortland and was headed home.
Mercy Flight took him to Upstate. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
