Oneida Shores Is Closed For Swimming Due To E.Coli

Brewerton, N.Y. - The Onondaga County Health Department has announced that Oneida Shores Beach, in the Town of Cicero, is closed for swimming due to high levels of bacteria (E.coli) in the water. Swimming will not be allowed until bacteria levels return to acceptable levels.

The Health Department will be keeping an eye on the lake water daily.

Onondaga Health Department says most varieties of E. coli are harmless or cause brief diarrhea. While only some types of bacteria will cause a stomach illness, the presence of E. coli bacteria indicates an increase in general bacterial action in the water.

If you are concerned you might be experiencing symptoms of an intestinal illness, you should contact their health care provider.
