Syracuse Who Critically Stabbed Man In Broad Daylight Arrested

On Monday July 16th, 2018 at approximately 12:12 PM, Syracuse Police Officers responded to the 400 block of S. Salina Street in regards to a stabbing call. 

 Upon arrival, Officers located a male in his 20’s suffering from a stab wound to his neck.  The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment and was listed in critical condition.

The investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a physical dispute, and that during this dispute, the victim was stabbed with a sharp instrument.

Witnesses provided a suspect description, and the suspect was located near the intersection of W. Water Street and S. Franklin Street a short time later. 

Police arrested 40 year old John J. Fredette Jr. of Syracuse N.Y. Fredette Jr. has been charged with Assault in the 1st degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree.  Fredette was also wanted for unrelated offenses relating to his failure to properly report as a sex offender. 

Fredette is currently in the Onondaga County Justice Center.
