Few local festivals can boast that they are in their 89th year of existence, but the St. Elias Middle Eastern Festival continues to feed and entertain Central New Yorkers as they have since 1920.
The church says the festival performs two important functions for the church - provide a source of income for the church's work in the world, as well as what they call "our window to the community" to display the culture of the church and its members.
Festival organizers say some recent improvements, including the use of iPad point-of-sale machines that accept credit cards and the doubling of their work area to shrink the size of lines of people waiting to buy food, have done a lot to improve their guests' experience.
The festival schedule is as follows:
- Friday (7/13): 4-10pm
- Saturday (7/14): 12-10pm
- Sunday (7/15): 12-6pm
St. Elias is at 4888 Onondaga Road, near OCC. Visit the church website to get more information.
