Here are "The Top 5 Things You Need To Know Today" for July 10, 2018:

1)   (or maybe #1A)

THE POTUS NOMINATES BRETT KAVANAUGH FOR SUPREME COURT

He's 53, a Federal Appeals Court Judge, a reliably conservative jurist, and he once actually clerked for Justice Anthony Kennedy, the man he would replace if confirmed by the Senate. However, that might be a challenge because...

2)   (or maybe #1B)

DEMOCRATS ARE GEARING UP TO FIGHT KAVANAUGH'S CONFIRMATION

Democrats, liberals, progressives, etc. don't like his judicial history and are convinced he would roll back abortion rights established under Roe v Wade. Senator Chuck Schumer vows to oppose the nomination with everything he has. The confirmation hearings could get really interesting.

Youth soccer team and their coach, trapped underground since June 23rd, now out and receiving medical attention. 4)

Still young, will undoubtedly add strength and size in the weight room. This kid is an offensive line coach's dream. Hope he has good footwork...

5)

IVANKA WOWS THE LOCAL FOLKS

First Daughter Ivanka Trump made two stops in Central New York yesterday, one here in Syracuse at Central High's Institute of Technology. She met with a selected group of students and guests, was hosted by Representative John Katko. The Congressman was impressed, although he told us he didn't get caught up in the glitz and glamor.
