Advocates for a dog severely injured in Syracuse are planning to raise money for its care. Police say 25-year-old Tyler Simon strangled the dog over the weekend and tried to pull its legs apart. The canine suffered a broken leg, bruised eyes and torn toenails. Its owners say they can't afford to pay the medical bills, so a donation is being offered by at least one shelter in the city. Simon is accused of animal cruelty and could end up in prison.
