Shouting, Windshield Punching, Shooting

On Friday, June 29, 2018 at about 7:35 AM, Syracuse Police Officers responded to 1818 S. Salina St. for a call of a Shots Fired. Upon their arrival, they met with two victims; a male and female, both 23 years of age. Their investigation revealed that the two pulled into the driveway at that address, when the male suspect, identified as Rakeem Bowens came out of that building and began shouting at the male victim, punched his windshield, breaking it, then pulled out a handgun. As the male victim tried to drive away, Bowens fired his handgun at the victims before fleeing the scene. No one was injured during this incident. With the assistance of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Bowens was located later in the day, and taken into custody without incident. Bowens, 23 years of age, of Mattydale, was subsequently lodged in the Onondaga County Justice Center on the charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, Menacing 2nd (two counts), Criminal Mischief, and Reckless Endangerment (two counts)
