On  Saturday, June 30, 2018, at approximately 5:23pm, Syracuse Police  Officer Mitch Hoey observed a red Oldsmobile Alero, fail to make a  complete stop, at the intersection  of Park Street and Pond Street. The same vehicle had been reported  stolen earlier in the day from West Ostrander Ave.

When Officer Hoey attempted to conduct a vehicle and traffic stop of  the car, the vehicle refused to pull over and a brief traffic pursuit ensued.  The pursuit ended when the  suspect vehicle struck a parked car in the 100 block of John Street.   The three occupants of the car then fled the scene on foot.

The driver, Yasire Boatman, 19, of Syracuse was taken into custody in  the 100 block of John Street by Officer  Hoey.  A passenger of the vehicle, Timothy Maeweather, 20, of Syracuse,  was located by Police Officer Jason Ladd in the 600 block of Park  Street.

Boatman was arrested and charged with Criminal  Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, Unauthorized Use of a  Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Fleeing  of a Police Officer in the Third Degree and various vehicle and traffic  law infractions. Maeweather was arrested  and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third  Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree and  Resisting Arrest.  They were lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending their arraignments.
