Man Lodged In Justice Center On Multiple Charges

On  Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at approximately 7:17pm, Syracuse Police Officers Anthony Fiorini and Joseph Commisso conducted a vehicle and  traffic stop of a gray Lincoln,  in the 300 block of Park Street.  The vehicle was being operated by  Kobe S. Lang, 19, of 255 Edison Street, Syracuse.  While the officers  were speaking with Lang, Lang put the car in drive and drove away.  The  officers returned to their patrol car and pursued  Lang.  Lang refused to pull over for police and a traffic pursuit  ensued.  The pursuit ended, when the vehicle Lang was driving, struck a  utility pole at the intersection of Bear Street and Sunset Ave.  Lang  then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on  foot.  Police Officer Gordon Quonce observed Lang throw a handgun into  the weeds as he was running away from police.  Lang then attempted to  conceal himself in the tall grass, but was eventually called out by  police and was taken into custody.

Officers conducted a ground search where they located a loaded, defaced, Hi-Point Firearms Model CF .380  caliber handgun.  Upon further investigation, it was also determined that the vehicle Lang had been operating was stolen.

Lang was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in  the Second Degree, Criminal Possession  of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm,  Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, Possession of a Stolen  Property in the Fourth Degree, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in  the Third Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle  in the Third Degree and various vehicle and traffic law infractions.   He was lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending his  arraignment
