Rome Teacher & Aide Facing Charges For Excessive Discipline

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Aid Unit investigated a report of excessive discipline at the John E. Joy Elementary School located on Bielby Rd in Rome, NY. A teacher and teacher’s assistant employed by the Rome City School District were subsequently arrested on 06/20/2018. Ashley Rasbach, 30 of Rome, NY was arrested on two counts each of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor and harassment in the second degree, a violation. Maria Fountain, 47 also of Rome, NY was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment in the second degree. Both Ms. Rasbach and Mrs Fountain were released with a criminal summons and are due to appear at Rome City Court on a later date.
