Mute Swan Massacre On Oneida Lake

Cicero, N.Y. - The DEC is engaging in another Mute Swan Massacre.

This time the State Department of Environmental Conservation has euthanized a family of Swans on Oneida Lake.

Officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture say that the swans were removed from Oneida Lake on Monday and euthanized. The six swans were killed after a woman was attacked by one of the Swans while kayaking on June 7.

Mute Swans have a history of being in the cross-hairs here in Central New York. The DEC considers Mute Swans to be a non-native and invasive species in the State. For years, they have attempted action against the Mute Swans at the Swan Pond in Manlius.
