Turning Stone Gearing Up For Sports Betting

Verona, N.Y. / Albany, N.Y. / Washington - The Supreme Court has cleared the way for legal sports betting to come to New York, but Governor Cuomo says it likely won't happen statewide this year.

Cuomo says the state will do an economic analysis, and a legal analysis. He says it's a difficult issue and  there isn't much time left in the legislative session to approve a bill.

The state Gaming Commission would have to write the regulations that would govern sports betting. If approved, sports betting could be allowed at the state's licensed casinos, tribal casinos and racetracks.

But as Bob Lonsberry was quick to point out...

and to that end, the Oneida Indian Nation is telling Central New Yorkers to get ready for legalized sports betting. Nation Officials say sports betting will be offered at their casinos soon once plans are adopted.

The group also says they are looking forward to sports betting resulting in new jobs.
