An elderly man was killed in a Oneida County crash Sunday night that was actually witnessed by an Oneida County sheriff's deputy.
The deputy was eastbound on State Route 365 in the town of Trenton around 7:30 pm when he saw 91-year-old Richard Hill of Utica driving westbound until his Subaru left the highway near Prospect Depot Road. Hill's car crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a guide rail head on. Hill was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica where he was pronounced dead. Investigators are still trying to determine why Hill's vehicle left the highway. No one else was hurt.
