Albany, N.Y. - We expect to learn today whether or not there will be a Democratic Party Primary to decide who will take on John Katko this Fall.
Former Syracuse Mayoral candidate Juanita Perez-Williams cleared a major hurdle to be on the ballot this June on Tuesday. A meeting of the full State Board of Elections will decide whether or not Perez-Williams has enough valid ballot petition signatures to qualify as a Democratic Party Candidate.
Perez-Williams, who is supported by Democrats at the National Level, is mounting a primary challenge against SU Professor Dana Balter, who is supported by the local Democratic Party. It was the leaders of the local Democratic Party that filled the challenge.
