Dems Name Candidate To Run For DeFrancisco's NYS Senate Seat

Syracuse, N.Y. - With word that State Sen. John DeFrancisco has decided not to seek refection for his long-time Senate Seat, the Democrats have chosen their man for the stalwarts soon to be vacant seat.

West Genesee High School biology teacher John Mannion has been designated by the local Democrats to run for the 50th State Senate District. It remains unclear who will run for the seat on the Republican side. Last week, DeFrancisco said he was pulling out of the Governor's race and would not be seeking re-election.

This weekend, Dems also picked IDC Sen. Dave Velesky to seek re-election. For the State Assembly Democrats designated Al Stirpe, Pam Hunter, Bill Magnarelli, Gail Tosh, Keith Batman.
