21 Year Old Cold Case Solved With DNA

A DNA test has resulted in the arrest of a former Onondaga County jail deputy,  who is being charged with a sexual attack on a 12 year old girl, 21 years ago.

53 year old Jack Doolittle of Solvay has been charged with the attack that happened   in broad daylight near Hazard Street Middle school in 1997. 

The sixth grade girl was using a shortcut to school when Doolittle, wearing a mask and brandishing a gun pulled her into a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.

Doolittle was arraigned in Onondaga County Court on charges including:

  • Two counts of first-degree sodomy
  •  First-degree attempted rape
  •  Kidnapping
  •  Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Child endangerment
  •  First-degree sex abuse


Doolittle was already in custody on recent drug charges when he was arrested in connection with this 1997 case.

Doolittle pleaded not guilty, and was taken into custody without bail. He is scheduled to return to court on May 29.
