Oswego Landlord Charged With Sexual Harrasement

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment by an Oswego-area landlord.

Douglas Waterbury allegedly demanded or pressured female tenants and potential tenants to engage in sex acts with him in order to keep or get housing. It also claims Waterbury made unwelcome sexual advances, encouraged sex acts in exchange for reduced rent or deposit payments and refused to perform maintenance to those who refused his advances.

The lawsuit seeks monetary damages to compensate the victims, civil penalties, and a court order barring future discrimination.

The incidents date back as far as 1990.
