Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo says New York isn't going to bail out Upstate casinos.
The del Lago Casino in Seneca County and a new Schenectady casino both fell short of projected earnings. Cuomo says he's not sympathetic to Upstate casinos that aren't meeting their expectations.
Del Lago representatives were in Albany earlier this week asking for tax breaks in this year's state budget along with a potential bailout.
Del Lago blames the Seneca Nation for it not meeting revenue projections. The Seneca's quit paying state and local governments as the Seneca County Casino was opening for business. Del Lago officials say that money is being pumped back into marketing and promotions.
For their part, officials with the Seneca Nation says this isn't fair because the projections anticipated del Lago cannibalizing revenue from its casinos in Central and Western New York
