Nor'Easter Snarls Flights in CNY and Beyond

More than 1,500 flights are being canceled as a nor'easter packing high winds and heavy snow threatens the East Coast.

Flightaware says about a third of tomorrow's scheduled departures from Newark Liberty International Airport already have been scrubbed.  Airports in Boston, Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, DC are also affected.

Forecasters say the storm could dump more than a foot of snow on parts of the Northeast.

Although Syracuse is being spared form any major weather impacts, the flight cancellations are being felt at Hancock. About half of the Arrivals and more than one third of the Departures are being canceled today. Otherwise, the flights that are still scheduled are running on time and are expected to stay on time today.

Airport officials are urging passengers to check with your airline for updates and to ask about travel waivers as many airlines are issuing them because of the weather. American, Delta, United and JetBlue are waiving fees for travelers who change tickets from a dozen major airports across the region.
