OCC Apprenticeship Accelerator Program Pays Trainees While They Learn


Onondaga Community College is offering an innovative program that addresses the needs of people in search of a better career and paycheck as well as companies in search of qualified emplhttp://aactjobs.com/oyees for their manufacturing jobs.

OCC is teaming up with five employers - Bartell Machinery Systems in Rome, Kilian Manufacturing in Syracuse, Precision Systems Manufacturing in Liverpool, Selflock Screw Products in Syracuse, and Stickley in Manlius - to launch an Apprenticeship Accelerator Career Training Program.  Trainees selected by the participating employers will be paid while completing a 10-week-long program that will train them to be machinists, tool makers, and maintenance mechanics.  Once training is completed, each trainee will receive a guaranteed 4-year apprenticeship program with the employer and see their pay increase from $13 per hour as an apprentice to over $20 per hour after 4 years.
