Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is co-sponsoring a bill to legalize marijuana at the federal level.
Gillibrand wants to remove marijuana from the list of controlled substances and expunge related convictions. It would also create incentives for states to change their restrictive marijuana laws. Gillibrand says the current laws are unfair and damaging.
She says they have disproportionately hurt communities of color and low-income.
