Buffalo, N.Y. - Researchers at the University at Buffalo are trying to figure out if lake effect snow is going to get worse.
Lake effect snow happens when cold air passes over warmer water. The study is looking to see how lake effect snow hit the area in the past to see if warming climates could change lake effect snowfall in the future.
The study will focus on ancient snowfall patterns in Upstate New York.
