Cuomo Urges Feds To Help Protect Lake Ontario Shoreline Communities

Ontario Beach Park-Lake Ontario Damage

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo is asking the Army Corps of Engineers to help protect communities along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River from flooding.

Cuomo has sent a letter to the Corps, calling for a strong federal-state partnership to ensure the protection of flood-prone communities long-term. His letter says water levels indicate there is "a serious threat for renewed coastal flooding in 2018."

The state has provided an initial candidate list of 90 sites on private and public land that are most at risk.
