Walsh Promotes Suburban Economic Development In First State Of The City

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh gave his first State Of The City Address Wednesday night.

In his address the Mayor called for broader economic development outside of the city while making his case for the community grid. Walsh proposed taking the money that he said would be wasted on a digging a tunnel and investing that money into economic development projects in the suburbs.

The Mayor also touted some of the recent successes of the Syracuse City School district, and announced the Syracuse Common Council will begin live streaming their meetings on the internet.
