DeFrancisco Is Running For Governor

Syracuse, N.Y. - It's official. State Senator John DeFrancisco is running for governor.  

The Republican filed his election paperwork with this state, allowing him to begin fundraising, yesterday. DeFrancisco will be making an announcement to supporters at the Holiday Inn on Electronics Parkway at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. 

The Deputy Majority Leader in the State Senate, and has a long career of representing Syracuse. Before becoming a State Senator in 1992 DeFrancisco was a member of the Syracuse School Board and then a member of Common Council 

DeFrancisco joins a field crowded by Upstate Republicans. DeFrancisco is seeking the nomination against former Democratic Erie County Executive Joel Giambra and Finger Lakes assemblyman and assemblyman already leader Brian Kolb. 

Governor Cuomo is up for reelection this year. It is expected he will seek a third term.
