A Syracuse native set to be the first African-American woman to go to the International Space Station is being reassigned and some are crying fowl.
NASA announced Astronaut Jeanette Epps was being replaced on the mission set to leave in June. This weekend her brother Henry Epps posted on Facebook with a link to a petition calling for her return to the mission. In the now deleted post he called NASA oppressively racist and misogynistic.
NASA said there were a number of factors that went into the decision and Jeanette Epps will certainly be considered for future missions.
