Syracuse District Fire Chief Hurt In Crash

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse District Fire Chief is recovering after being injured in a multiple vehicle crash.  

Police say he was on his way to a reported fire with his lights and sirens on when a van driven by a LaFayette man hit him at North Geddes Street and West Belden Avenue. The van went on to hit a tractor trailer at the intersection.  

The driver of the van, 64-year-old Steven Dickerson and the Fire Chief received minor injuries and both taken to Upstate University Hospital. Charges are still being considered against Dickerson.
