Gov. Cuomo Wants Election Reform

Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Andrew Cuomo Gathers With Supporters On Election Night

Albany, N.Y. – Governor Cuomo's legislative agenda for New Year will include a proposal to reform the state election system.

He wants the state to adopt early voting and require every county to offer residents access to at least one early voting poll site during the 12 days leading up to Election Day.

He says early voting would lead to shorter lines on Election Day and encourage voting by people with busy schedules.

Cuomo also wants the state to adopt same-day voter registration. Voters would be able to register, and vote, on Election Day.
