Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse will have a new Fire Chief next month.
Mayor Elect Ben Walsh has selected that Michael Monds will be the new Chief of the Syracuse Fire Department. Monds has been with the department for 17-years. He is replacing Chief Paul Linnertz whose retirement was announced last week.
Also announced by the Mayoral Transition Team is that 20-year department veteran Steven Evans will serve as First Deputy Fire Chief.
