The minimum age to buy tobacco in Onondaga County could soon be 21.

The county legislature voted Tuesday to ban the sale of tobacco products to anyone under 21.  The ban includes a number of smoking products, including herbal cigarettes, rolling papers, pipes, and e-cigarettes.  The current age has been 19, with 18 the minimum age for those in the military.  The new law eliminates the military exemption.  County executive Joanie Mahoney must approve the bill for it to become law.
