The Onondaga County sheriff is looking into firing one of his deputies for a pair of car crashes where the sheriff believes alcohol was involved.
Sheriff Gene Conway says Deputy Kevin Drumm is the subject of an internal investigation. A property-related hit-and-run incident October 6 in Tully involved a car that sideswiped another and left the scene. Deputies investigating a second nearby accident identified the driver as Drumm. The deputy was only given a pair of "field sobriety" tests which he passed. Conway says he does not believe Drumm's account, and wishes his office had handled the investigation differently. Drumm had been suspended without pay at the time of the incident but is back at work now on a limited basis.
