Voters In North Syracuse Approve Capital Improvement Project

Voters in the North Syracuse school district agreed to spend $10 million in capital improvement money for several district buildings.

The capital project will replace parts of leaky roofs on five buildings that include Bear Road Elementary, Gillette Road Middle School, the junior high and CNS High School.  There's also money to renovate tennis courts at the junior high on Taft Road that administrators say is an embarrassment now.

Superintendent Annette Speach expressed thanks for everyone who voted as well as gratitude for being able to tackle the roof replacements and tennis court makeover.  The capital project referendum vote was 545 to 336.  The  0.2 percent tax levy increase will cost an extra $5 a year for a home valued at $100,000.
