The Lakers No Longer Drinking From Skaneateles Lake

Skaneateles, N.Y. - The Skaneateles School District has shut down all drinking fountains in its district buildings.

In the wake of a massive algae bloom growing in Skaneateles Lake, Superintendent Ken Slentz announced this morning that the district will be supplying all buildings with bottled water. Slentz said that until the Department of Health confirms that the water in the district has safe toxin levels, the district will be shutting down its water fountains.

Recent tests have shown that young children are most susceptible to the toxins produced by the algae found in the lake.
