State Fair Day 2: 'Preview Day' vs 'Opening Day'

Geddes, N.Y. - How Did 'Preview Day' this year Measure Up to 'Opening Day' last year?

It may be an unfair comparison but if you compare this year's First Day Attendance with last year's First Day you find that 318 less people attended the 'Preview Day' with 67,974 people attending the Fair Wednesday. As one Fair Official put it, it was the most attended second Wednesday before Labor Day ever at the Fair. This year is the first year that the Fair has ran 13 Days long since before WWII and has traditionally ended on Labor Day.

The Opening Day record is Just over 74,385 set in the year 2000 .

'Preview Day' was also 'Governor's Day' and Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a new Expo Center, set to open next year. The 130,000 square foot facility will make it the largest exposition center north of New York City.  It is expected to hold 4,000 people in town for a variety of events which include animal competitions and trade shows.

'Opening Day 2017' is today at the Fair and, since it is Thursday, it's a Three Dollar Thursday where General Admission to the Fair is $3.

On Chevy Court this afternoon it's the Family Stone at 2:00 p.m. and at 8:00 p.m. tonight rock band Chevelle.

Reminder to look out for Bob Lonsberry who will be broadcasting live from the Fair today 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. You can listen to Bob On-Demand anytime you want by listening to his podcast on iHeartRadio
