An investigation by the Associated Press has uncovered horrific conditions at a Central New York group home run by the state.

The AP obtained confidential records of a state-run group home in Rome. They found the case of a severely disabled man who was infested with maggots and had been neglected for days.

Patient Steven Wenger had maggots around his breathing tube which had to be removed and cleaned on two separate occasions. The AP says in many of these neglect cases, the state is very secretive during investigation and rarely releases any information to the public.
