A Southern Tier woman is behind bars on attempted murder charges after police say she stuffed an infant into a plastic bag.
17 year old Harriette Hoyt of Elmira was charged in the case after a neighbor heard crying from her backyard and discovered the infant wrapped in the plastic bag. Neighbors were able to administer first aid until ambulance crews arrived.
The infant was rushed to a local hospital and the baby is listed in stable condition. Elmira Police say Hoyt's child survived for three days in that plastic bag.
